First Applauds Bush Comments On Medical Malpractice Reform

January 16th, 2003 - WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Senator Bill Frist (R-TN) made the following statement in support of President Bush’s comments in Pennsylvania today on the need for medical malpractice reform: “I applaud the President for bringing attention to this national health care crisis. Again and again we hear the horror stories - trauma centers closing, doctors striking, specialists quitting, and expectant mothers having serious difficulty even finding a doctor. The President is right. This is a crisis of health care access and skyrocketing costs, and we know what needs to done - passing meaningful medical litigation reform. “I don’t want this issue to be slowed by petty politics. We must act soon before the quality of health care is further compromised. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to enact meaningful medical litigation reform this year.”
